He won his first round fight at the games in Athens, Greece but was defeated in the 2nd Round by the eventual Bronze medalist Ahmed Ismail 38-22 (Trevor’s Olympic Profile @ slam.canoe.ca). Just to get to the 2004 Olympics Trevor wage a four-month battle through boardrooms, which lead to a Quebec arbitrator giving him the birth in mid-July shortly before the games. Stewardson, who was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ont., trains out of Medicine Hat, Alta. leading up to the Olympics and had contested a Canadian Olympic Committee ruling that the silver medal he won at a qualifying tournament in Brazil was not sufficient to earn an Olympic berth (Full Details of Trevor’s Olympic Protest Info). He has been ranked as high as eighth by the sport’s international federation in 81 kilos. A Commonwealth Games bronze medallist in 1998 and a three-time national champion, Stewardson moved west after the Thunder Bay Amateur Boxing Club closed in 2001. He was also on the 1999 Pan Am Games team. Sometime after the Olympics Stewardson suffered an injured and after he recovered started fighting MMA professionally. He event tried out for the Ultimate Fighter, but decided to come home prior to the televised portion even though he was highly touted to continue. After he fought Jason Day in what was his final MMA fight he fought one Professional Boxing fight and lost to a previously undefeated boxer.
